Change of the seasons

This is my favorite part of the year. Just riding without a plan, no coaching, no pussatron, doing group rides, not really caring about anything...except....my favorite am fuel. SCONES, light, flakey, moist, warm blueberry scones. Nothing better to me then riding for a couple of hours this time of year in the early am when there is a bit of a thermal inversion and finding a perfect blueberry scone.

After all as Tracey says I'm a fat man in a skinny persons body.

Eric and I always laugh about this time of year when the fitness falls off..."like falling off a cliff". It takes so long to get that fitness and in just a moment, poof its gone. I felt it falling off yesterday, in fact I got off my bike on a climb. I didn't get off because I couldn't pedal, just because I didn't want to believe that I was pedaling in my smallest gear (40x26). I thought for sure it was a (40x23).

Oh well, maybe I'll be able to fake it for the next few weeks.

F-it, I'll just eat more scones.

That's funny.
You are falling off of fitness and I am trying to climb to a peak for the year. We leave for Utah (LOTOJA)next Wednesday, then it's a return for some CXing and winter shenanigans.
"There is no off season is California".

But I know what you mean about the low stress social rides followed by good eats. Long miles with good friends...the best!

I haven't even been going uphill....

But I am looking forward to stepping into a gym next week. I will be back in the hills by October....

Rest up, and see you at a coffee shop soon...

you mean I'm not supposed to have coffee stops on every ride year-round? hmmm. maybe that explains something. I'm not sure what it explains, but it must explain something.

Do the words Jet Lag ring a bell? We got home on Tuesday evening and I went out for a ride up Mt. Diablo yesterday afternoon. First I thought I was going to do some hard riding. That went out the window pretty much immediately. I found myself practically groveling up in my 36x25. Between the heat and the jet lag I couldn't get out of my own way.

I'll be at the Giro though at least _trying_ to go fast.

VG- never say no to coffee, its the scones I struggle with saying no to.

K-the jet lag has gotten me up at 3am, and to sleep on the couch by 7:30.

see you in sf, lets go fast!
